In 1991 Brigitte Berendonk and Werner Franke, two opponents of the doping, published several theses which had been drafted former researchers in the GDR doping products which were at the Military Medical Academy Bad Saarow. Based on this work, in their book (translated from German as 'Doping Documents") they were able to reconstruct the practice of doping as it was organized by the State on many great athletes from the GDR, including Marita Koch and Heike Drechsler , who have denied the allegations. GB Paralympic Fencer and Cyclist, Craig McCann was originally a rowing enthusiast whilst at University! In 2004 he was about to join the RAF but was discovered to have a brain tumour. By 2010 British Disabled Fencing had recognised his amazing potential and that's when his full time training began.

Craig represented GB at World and European champs in 2011 and went on to reach the quarter finals in the 2012 London Olympics.

Two UAE judo officials apologized for a UAE athlete's refusal to shake hands with Israeli judokas at the Abu Dhabi Judo Grand Slam tournament this week.

After Israel's Tohar Butbul defeated the UAE’s Rashad Almashjari in the first round on Wednesday, he held out his hand for a handshake. Almashjari turned his back and walked away, brushing off the attempt.

According to International Judo Federation President Marius Vizer, the president of the UAE Judo Federation Mohammad Bin Thaloub Al-Darei and General Secretary of Abu Dhabi Sports Council Aref Al-Awani apologized to Israel Judo Association President Mr. Moshe Ponti. Vizer also claimed that the officials congratulated the Israeli team for their success.
